When this template is required

Office workplaces face fewer OSHA-mandated programs than industrial workplaces — but still need EAP, HazCom for cleaning supplies, ergonomics (with workers comp claims), sexual harassment training (state-required in many states), and basic safety inspection.

Why this template

Right-sized for offices

Many office workplaces have heavy industrial-style programs that don't fit. This pack is office-appropriate — covers what offices actually need without industrial overhead.

Office workstation ergonomics

Workers comp claims from office MSDs (carpal tunnel, neck strain, back) are substantial. Workstation evaluation checklist covers monitor height, chair, keyboard, lighting.

State-aware harassment training

Many states require annual harassment training for all employers regardless of size (IL, CA, NY, ME, DE, CT, WA — partial list). Pack covers state-aware policy and training framework.

Light HazCom for cleaning

Office HazCom is limited to cleaning supplies. Light-touch HazCom training rather than industrial-scale program.

Frequently asked

Do offices need an EAP?

Yes — 29 CFR 1910.38 requires an Emergency Action Plan for all workplaces with employees evacuating in emergencies. Office EAPs are simpler than industrial (no specialized response, no hazardous materials), but still required.

What about ergonomics?

OSHA doesn't have an ergonomics standard but enforces ergonomic hazards through General Duty Clause. Office ergonomics is the most common claims area — workstation evaluation and discomfort reporting prevent claims from progressing to recordable injuries.

Is harassment training required?

Several states require annual harassment training: IL (all employers), CA (5+ employees), NY (all employers), ME, DE, CT, WA. Pack supports compliance in these states. For other states, training is best practice.

What about workplace violence in offices?

Most offices have lower workplace violence risk than retail, healthcare, or social services. Basic WV awareness in the EAP is usually sufficient. High-risk office settings (legal, social services, government with public-facing) should layer a full WVP.
